Group CPR Training for Staff: Online Certification for Workplaces

Getting one person CPR certified is easy. Getting a whole team certified, tracking who finished, and remembering who expires next spring is where most organizations get stuck. Scheduling an in-person class means pulling staff off shifts, finding a room, and paying an instructor, and there is always someone who misses the date.

Online group CPR training solves most of that. Staff train on their own schedule, managers see progress from one dashboard, and every employee prints a card the moment they pass. This guide covers how group CPR training works, which courses to buy for which roles, what it costs, and how to set up a group account, including invoice options for larger organizations.

Who buys group CPR training?

Any organization that needs more than a handful of people certified at once:

  • Schools and districts: teachers, coaches, aides, and front-office staff
  • Daycares, preschools, and camps: staff who need pediatric CPR and first aid for licensing
  • Clinics, dental offices, home health, and assisted living: BLS for clinical staff, Bloodborne Pathogens for exposure risk
  • Gyms and studios: trainers and front-desk staff
  • Offices, warehouses, retail, and construction: designated first aid and CPR responders
  • Churches, volunteer groups, and nonprofits: nursery workers, youth leaders, and event volunteers

How online group CPR training works

SimpleCPR has specialized in group accounts for years. The process is simple:

  1. Choose the course or courses you need. You can mix levels, for example BLS for nurses and Adult CPR/AED for front-desk staff.
  2. Buy 5 or more courses. The group discount of $5 per course is applied automatically at checkout.
  3. Register your group. During registration, you provide your organization’s details and name a Group Administrator.
  4. Add members and assign courses. The administrator logs in, adds staff to the group, and assigns each person a course.
  5. Staff train online. Each member logs in on any device and completes the course at their own pace. Most CPR courses take 60 minutes or less; CPR & First Aid combos typically take 60–90 minutes.
  6. Print cards immediately. Members print their own cards when they pass, and the administrator can print cards for everyone too.

What the Group Administrator can do

This is where online group training really saves time compared to managing a stack of individual receipts:

  • Monitor the progress of every group member
  • View course completion dates and certification expiration dates
  • Print certification cards for all members
  • Access staff training records in one place
  • Purchase additional courses for the group as you hire
  • View and edit member information

Two features matter a lot for budgets: purchased courses never expire and stay available until a group member uses them, and unused courses can be reassigned. If someone leaves before training, you do not lose the seat. Buy for your current team, keep a few extra for new hires, and assign them when people start.

What group CPR training costs vs. in-person classes

For a team of 20 needing Adult CPR/AED, online group training at $14.95 per person is about $299 total, with no instructor fee, no room, and no one pulled off the floor for half a day. In-person classes often cost considerably more per person once you add instructor fees and paid staff time, and you still have to schedule around everyone’s shifts. The honest tradeoff: online training does not include an in-person skills check. Many employers accept online certification. If your industry, licensing body, or insurer requires hands-on verification, plan for a separate skills session, and use online training for the knowledge portion and the card.

Invoice billing and larger groups

Tips for rolling out CPR training to your team

  • Confirm requirements first. Check your licensing rules, insurer, or corporate policy for the course level and whether online training is accepted. Our guide Is Online CPR Certification Accepted by Employers? can help.
  • Set a deadline. Give staff one to two weeks to finish. Most will complete the course in a single sitting.
  • Pay for the time. If training is required for the job, treat it as work time. It is better for morale, and staff finish faster when they are not training on their own time.
  • Stagger renewals. CPR cards are typically valid for two years. Use the administrator dashboard to see who expires when and assign renewals ahead of time.
  • Keep spare seats. Because purchased courses never expire, buying a few extra makes onboarding new hires instant.
